Color Play 02212010

Sewing in all the color change ends sure takes time but I'm nearly there. Next fall I will donate this hat to a charity. (and the kid sister's name is not Charity)

A Winter Hat

My interpretation of a northern New England winter sky. The fibers are Harrisville Design's shetland and a mohair/silk combination. The silk gives it a nice bit of shine. For this hat I did twenty-two color changes.

The Pond

For this knitting challenge, the pond out back provided inspiration. I am using seven colors - one variegated, three greens and three blues. The knitted piece has a nice murky look to it the way the water does.

Sunrise Hat

A knitted sunrise ---- the yarn for this hat is from Harrisville Design in Harrisville, NH. Forty-four color changes resulted in eighty-eight ends that needed working in. Two hours of watching American Idol saw the job done.

A Hat

It has been too long since I've played around with yarns and stitch patterns. This hat has three shades of grey and two of blue. A mohair/silk blend yarn is the lightest grey and it provides a nice haze.

In Circles Hat

I designed this hat to eventually knit with shetland yarn, using multiple colors. These circles lend themselves to all sorts of experimentation.

Knit/Purl Hat

On this version of the "August hat" the crown decreasing is much better.

August Hat

This was a fun hat to knit using a combination of knit and purl stitches. Also, it is a good way to use a multi-colored yarn.
